UNC Health announced Friday it’s acquiring of a 43-acre parcel within Chatham Park for $15.9 million that can accommodate up to 700,000 square feet of medical care facilities.
Chatham Park is an 8,500-acre master planned community in Pittsboro. The parcel is just south of the U.S. 64 Bypass and the Chatham Park Way transportation corridor.
The facilities will complement the UNC Health facilities in Chatham Park and the UNC Health Chatham Hospital in Siler City.
“We’ve built a substantial presence at Chatham Park and are delighted to be a part of the growing Chatham Park community,” said Janet Hadar, president of UNC Hospitals, in a statement.
There are currently more than 1,000 residents in Chatham Park. The development will include an elementary school, a Hampton Inn and a YMCA.
