Truliant Federal Credit Union hired a former BB&T executive for its chief operating officer post, reporting to CEO Todd Hall.
Michael Troutman will oversee branch operations, mortgage, Truliant Financial Advisors, and Truliant Business Services.
“Troutman has a proven track record of driving success and enabling financial institutions to thrive,” Hall said in a release.
Troutman was most recently senior vice president and middle market commercial banking relationship manager for U.S. Bank in the Carolinas and Virginia. He was based in Charlotte.
He previously worked at BB&T between 2002 and 2020, with his last role as the market president in Newport News, Virginia, according to his LinkedIn page.
Credit unions are increasingly hiring commercial bankers for key executive posts as they shift into offering more banking services.
Troutman has a bachelor’s degree from UNC Chapel Hill and an MBA from William and Mary University.
Anderson Langford had been Truliant’s chief operations officer, but he shifted to chief credit officer at the end of 2023, Truliant spokesman Heath Pulliam said.
Winston-Salem-based Truliant is among North Carolina’s biggest credit unions with about $5 billion in assets and more than 35 banking locations in the Carolinas and Virginia.
