Truist cut 735 jobs in Q2, more on the way

Truist Financial says it cut 735 jobs in the second quarter with additional reductions ahead as it achieves $1.6 billion in cost savings from the merger of BB&T and SunTrust Bank, executives told security analysts this week. The Charlotte-based company now employs about 2,100 people in Forsyth County, where BB&T was formerly based, and 1,700 at its main Greensboro office complex. The bank is studying how to consolidate BB&T and SunTrust branches that are in close proximity in many locations.
