Sports apparel company Tegra Global will close its plant in Concord on March 31, resulting in the loss of 61 jobs, according to paperwork filed with the N.C. Department of Commerce.
Reduced customer orders could not support keeping the Concord operations going. “The reason for the plant closure was based on supply chain disruption, the inflationary marketplace and reduced customer demands that have adversely affected our business operations,” according to the notice filed with the state.
The building and textile operations in Concord have been in operations for about 30 years under different ownerships.
Affected employees were notified in September, according to the company. Thirty-seven workers will lose their jobs on Nov. 12, followed by seven on Dec. 31 and the remaining 19 on March 31, 2025. Workers are not a part of a union and bumping rights do not exist.
Tegra was established in August 2016 in Atlanta, through the acquisition of New Holland and ArtFx. The Concord operations had been part of ArtFx. In April, Seoul-based Sae-A Trading announced it was acquiring the company, which at the time had 7,500 employees, including operations in Honduras and El Salvador. Sae-A Trading had 30,000 employees at the time of the acquisition, supplying U.S. and European markets. Company headquarters was moved to Seoul, according to a company release.
Tegra also has U.S. operations in Norfolk, Virginia, and Oregon.
