Raleigh-based Coastal Credit Union, the state’s second-largest credit union, named Tyler Grodi as CEO succeeding Chuck Purvis, who is retiring on March 31 after 11 years in the job.
Grodi joins Coastal from EFCU Financial in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he has served as CEO for 11 years. He previously was chief financial officer at Black Hills Federal Credit Union in Rapid City, SD.
“We found a leader with the experience and proven track record that will be the key to our success,” Coastal board Chair Joan Nelson said in a press release.
Grodi is an Ohio native with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Bowling Green State University.
Coastal operates 23 branches and has 323,000 members from 1,800 business partners.
Coastal added nearly $3 billion in assets and more than 100,000 members during Purvis’ tenure.
