North Carolina’s 65-plus population has grown significantly over the last decade, outpacing the national trend. According to U.S. Census Bureau estimates, 16.3% of the state’s residents were 65 or older in 2018, versus fewer than 13% in 2010. By 2025, one in five North Carolinians is likely to be in that age range. With a moderate climate, diverse geography and an abundance of senior-living accommodations, it’s easy to see why many are choosing to settle and retire in the Old North State.
