Selee invests $7M in Henderson County plant

Selee Corp. is investing $7 million at its Henderson County plant, helping retain 110 jobs that provide an average wage of about $70,350, the company said.

Selee produces metal filtration products and has been a division of  Hampshire, England-based Porvair since 1995. Selee has had a plant in Henderson County for more than 40 years.

The average wage is more than 30% higher than the county’s average.

“The Porvair Board of Directors recognizes Selee’s Hendersonville location for its continued success and potential growth,” said President Walt Jackson in a release. “Investing in an expansion of this facility will allow us to improve production.”

Selee pioneered the use of ceramic foam technology in metal filtration, creating products used in the food and beverage, aerospace, and automotive industries.

“Henderson County’s strong economy and thriving manufacturing community can stay prosperous when existing industry like Selee invest in their growth here,” added Rebecca McCall, chair of the Henderson County Commission board.

Henderson County is providing a $68,000 grant to Selee that is tied to the company hitting targets for investment and job creation. Hendersonville is 25 miles south of Asheville.
