REGIONALREPORT Eastern

MOYOCKXe Services, formerly known as Blackwater Worldwide (cover story, June 2007), hired Ted Wright as CEO. Wright was business unit president for North American government and defense for Houston-based defense contractor KBR. The position had been vacant since New York private-equity group USTC Holdings bought the security company in December.

ROCKY POINT —  New York-based Coty will close its plant here by the end of this month, ending employment for its last 60 workers. About 700 employees of the cosmetics company were scheduled to be laid off by the end of June.

PEMBROKE — Purnell Swett, 77, resigned as Lumbee tribal chairman, citing health reasons for leaving with about a year and a half left on his term. Federal officials recently questioned the tribe’s adherence to federal rules on consultant and employee contracts and travel expenses and ordered it to repay nearly $115,000 in federal grants. Vice Chair Sharon Hunt will serve as interim chair until a special election can be held to replace Swett.

WILMINGTON — Two television series that shot their pilots here and were picked up for the fall season won’t be returning. ABC’s Revenge and the CW’s Hart of Dixie will both be produced in Los Angeles.

FAYETTEVILLE — Forces Command, one of two Army commands moving this summer to Fort Bragg from Fort McPherson, Ga., is cutting its headquarters staff by 100 civilian workers, according to its deputy commanding general and chief of staff. No workers have lost jobs, but some vacant slots have been eliminated.

HAMPSTEAD — New York developer Lawrence P. Doyle, chairman and CEO of Katierich Asset Management, purchased Olde Point Golf and Country Club. Terms of the deal with Patrick Funigiello, who appeared in federal bankruptcy court earlier this year to forestall an attempt to foreclose on the property, were not disclosed.
