The group of anonymous Panthers fans — upset by the team’s poor performance this season, which they blame on Richardson’s stinginess — published the letter in December.

CHARLOTTE — JELD-WEN, which makes doors and windows, will open its North American headquarters in Charlotte, investing $2 million and creating 142 jobs within two years. It employs 260 in Davidson and McDowell counties. The company’s global headquarters is in Klamath Falls, Ore.

SALISBURY — Beth Newlands Campbell replaced Cathy Green Burns as president of Salisbury-based grocery chain Food Lion, which is owned by Belgium-based Delhaize Group. Newlands Campbell was president of Scarborough, Maine-based Hannaford Supermarkets, also a Delhaize subsidiary. The company recently introduced lower prices and a new marketing strategy amid slumping market share.

CHARLOTTE — Parkway Properties will buy a 19-story downtown office tower for $47.4 million. The Orlando, Fla.-based company recently bought the NASCAR Plaza building, also downtown.

MONROE — Midway Aircraft Instrument will move here from Little Ferry, N.J., investing $2.3 million and bringing 36 jobs within three years. The company maintains and repairs aircraft-system components. Average annual salary will be $50,019, higher than Union County’s average of $35,048.

CHARLOTTE — Daniel R. DiMicco stepped down after more than 12 years as CEO of Nucor. President and Chief Operating Officer John J. Ferriola, who has worked for the steel-maker for about 20 years and led three divisions, succeeded him.

CHARLOTTE — US Airways will begin offering daily direct flights from Charlotte Douglas International Airport to Sao Paulo, Brazil, in May. The Tempe, Ariz.-based airline also will start flying daily to Heathrow Airport in London from Charlotte, its largest hub, in March.
