Ellen Grantham was named chief financial officer of K4Connect, the Raleigh-based startup that develops technology for older adults and people with disabilities.
Grantham previously was CFO of WebAssign, a provider of online tools for teachers and students. Started 20 years ago at N.C. State University, WebAssign last year was acquired by Boston-based Cengage for an undisclosed amount.
She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Meredith College.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Ellen to the K4Connect team, where she brings a breadth of financial expertise as well as a diverse knowledge base that extends into operation and organizational development,” said Scott Moody, co-founder and CEO of K4Connect.
K4Connect has raised about $10 million from investors including Intel Capital, Sierra Ventures and home-improvement retailer Lowe’s. Its first product, K4Community, combines “smart-home” features such as thermostat and lighting controls with activity trackers and other capabilities. K4 Community was recently deployed at The Cardinal at North Hills senior apartments in Raleigh and at five Spring Arbor assisted-living communities in Maryland and North Carolina.
