Panorama Holdings, the Chinese-backed real estate development firm with a large Charlotte presence, is developing a 14-story mixed-use building in Ballantyne Village. Having broken ground last week, the tower will be the tallest development in the Charlotte area outside of downtown, and will include hotel and office space and a rooftop restaurant.
Named Panorama Tower, the project will be based at 14819 Ballantyne Village Way in the Ballantyne residential, retail and office district, located roughly 17 miles south of downtown Charlotte. It will include a 186-room AC Hotel by Marriott, occupying the first through seventh floors, and roughly 100,000 square feet of Class A office space on floors eight through 14. Separate ground-level hotel and office lobbies, offices with 20,000-square-foot floorplates and 13-foot ceilings, urban-style amenities, and a rooftop restaurant and bar — the highest elevation available outside the downtown market — are all planned for the development.
Panorama Holdings also will add three levels to the existing parking deck at 14735 Ballantyne Village Way, located near the project, expanding the deck’s total capacity to almost 1,000 parking spaces.
JLL’s Project & Development Services group will serve as project manager for Panorama Tower, and Raleigh’s Concord Hospitality will manage the hotel once it’s completed in early 2021. Charley Leavitt, managing director with JLL, is in charge of preleasing the tower’s office space, which is currently underway. Jane Wu, a UNC Charlotte graduate and president of Panorama Holdings, is leading the development. The real estate development firm is already a major player in Charlotte, with over three million square feet currently in its project pipeline for the area.
