National Distribution Centers laying off 217 in High Point

A logistics and transportation company plans to close its High Point location and lay off 217 workers, according to a filing with the N.C. Department of Commerce.

National Distribution Centers, which operates using the name NFI Industries, said it will close the facility on Eagle Hill Drive by Dec. 31.

The stated reason for the closing was the termination of a customer contract. The address on Eagle Hill Drive is occupied by Winston-Salem’s Hanes Brands.

The Triad Business Journal reported in 2018 that Hanes had leased the building, formerly used by Ralph Lauren, to support distribution of its Champion branded products.

The privately held company provides transportation and logistic services. It offers transportation management, warehousing, cross docking, technology solutions, industrial engineering, freight audit, air freight, and other services.

Based in Camden, New Jersey, the company has more than $3.9 billion in annual revenue and employs over 16,800 workers.

It owns and operates more than 70 million square feet of warehouse space alongside a fleet of 5,000 tractors and 14,300 trailers.
