North Carolina State Sen. Jay Chaudhuri is joining Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll PLLC, a leading national plaintiffs’ law firm, on Oct. 3. Chaudhuri, who represents parts of Raleigh, Cary and Morrisville, will join former North Carolina Court of Appeals Judge Martha Geer, who launched Cohen Milstein’s Raleigh office earlier this year. “Senator Chaudhuri has long been a champion for those who lack a voice,” Geer said.
Chaudhuri was appointed to the state senate in April to replace Josh Stein, who is running for attorney general. Chaudhuri has been general counsel and senior policy advisor to State Treasurer Janet Cowell, where he chaired the Council of Institutional Investors, an association of pension funds with combined assets of more than $3 trillion. He earlier had worked as special counsel to N.C. Attorney General Roy Cooper.
Chaudhuri is a graduate of Davidson College, Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs, and North Carolina Central University School of Law.
