N.C. Dental Society names new CEO

James Goodman, a veteran executive at the American Dental Association in Chicago, was named CEO and executive director of the 4,000-member North Carolina Dental Society, effective March 11. He succeeds Alex Parker, who retired last March after 16 years as executive director.

Goodman has worked for the ADA for 14 years, most recently as chief business strategy and product portfolio officer.

Goodman will oversee The North Carolina Dental Society, The NC Dental Society Foundation and North Carolina Services for Dentistry.

“As a key member of the ADA’s executive staff, Jim’s vast experience will be an invaluable asset as he steps in this new role,” Dr. Chuck Norman, past-president of both the ADA and North Carolina Dental Society, said in a release.

Goodman has a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University.

Dr. Kenneth Sadler has been interim executive director over the past year.

The Dental Society has annual revenue of about $2.8 million and net reserves of about $11.6 million, according to its most recent tax filing.
