Legal Elite – Young Guns 2015

I own and lead a general practice law firm. We take on various cases, including personal injury, workers compensation, traffic law, uncontested divorces and some criminal defense. However, my personal focus is on immigration law. I immigrated to the United States alongside my family in 1996. We moved from Lima, Peru, to a little town called Oak Ridge here in North Carolina. The culture shock was tremendous. The immigration process was very stressful for my parents. There were no immigration attorneys in Oak Ridge, so we had to venture out to neighboring cities. It was very difficult to find an attorney that my parents could trust and communicate with comfortably. My family would often stress over the complex process. I became an immigration attorney to help those experiencing what I lived through.

Passions: Business, startups, family, philosophy, travel, friends and fútbol.

What he’d be if not a lawyer: Law-school professor or FBI agent.

Favorite place: Maui, Hawaii. I took my parents there after graduating from law school. It was our first time there. We made the best memories, some we will always reminisce on.

Heroes: My parents, for all the sacrifices they made so that I could have an opportunity and for instilling in me the belief that all is achievable with hard work. And for teaching me that fear, in all endeavors,
is optional.

Favorite book: Thus Spoke Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche.

Don’t ask him to: Go on roller coasters.
