My undergraduate education at Purdue was fantastic preparation for being a career combat-arms officer in the Army. When I fell in love with my wife and decided that a career as an Airborne Ranger was not entirely conducive to a lifetime of domestic bliss, I had to find a career where I could utilize my training and experience in closing with and destroying the enemy. That meant law school and a career in litigation.

Vita: Born Feb. 22, 1968, in Grand Rapids, Mich.; bachelor’s from Purdue University and law degree from Campbell University; wife and four children.
What he’d do if not law: Christian apologetics — writing, speaking and debating — or work at the Hofbräuhaus brewery in Munich.
Why he chose to specialize in this field: It is fascinating. You deal day in and day out with creative expressions, novel inventions and unique identities.
Memorable case: We represented a small textile manufacturer against a Fortune 500 retailer in a patent fight. Our client owned the patent. Sears owned a lot of infringing shirts and wanted to keep selling them. That experience taught me that representing the little guy against the big bully is fun — and stressful.
Hero: My father.
Passions: My family, Jesus Christ, helping clients, winning cases and not finishing in last place in triathlons.
