In more fanciful moments, I suppose I would have liked to either be a professional musician — guitar — or race sailboats competitively. Or maybe an educator. I flirted with a career in politics. I would have loved to have been a sportswriter or columnist.
Vita: Born April 21, 1960, in Hartford, Conn.; bachelor’s from Southampton College in New York and law degree from George Mason University; two children. Why he chose this field: Patent law provided me the best avenue for continuing to use my undergraduate degree in chemistry. Memorable case: Writing and obtaining some of the first patents in the LASIK and hydrogel contact-lens fields. Passions: Watching my two college-aged children find their way in the world. I also am an avid singer/songwriter and perform regularly. Favorite books: The Last Hurrah by Edwin O’Connor, Being Red: A Memoir by Howard Fast and Baseball and Men’s Lives: The True Confessions of a Skinny-Marink by Robert Mayer. Favorite place: The beach — especially the Outer Banks and the beaches on eastern Long Island. Heroes: Roberto Clemente and my dad, Al Krasnow. Both are known for their limitless compassion, steadfast loyalty and ability to lead by example. Don’t ask me to: Recount a story briefly or be out of contact with my friends for long.
