“I like mysteries because I like the way it all comes together at the end. Especially with The Usual Suspects, at the end you look back and see the clues and can tell how they all fit together and point to the resolution.”

Vita: 36; born in Kinston; bachelor’s from UNC Chapel Hill, master’s from Georgetown University and law degree from Wake Forest University; married with two children.
Why she chose to specialize in this field: I was introduced to this area of practice by my father, Gray Johnsey, who still practices in Kinston. Estate planning gives you the opportunity to become a trusted adviser to and develop long-lasting relationships with your clients. The opportunity to develop those relationships is particularly appealing to me.
Memorable case/client: I had a client who asked me write into his documents his request to be cremated and his ashes shot from a cannon. I left out the part about the cannon.
What she’d be if not a lawyer: A chef — I love to cook.
Favorite place: The beach, any beach.
Hero: Probably my parents. The unwavering patience and support of my mother has made me a better parent. Looking back, I appreciate what it took to be at every tennis match and dance recital and to make every birthday and holiday better than the last. My father has been an invaluable resource for me in my career, but more importantly, he’s made me a better lawyer. The passion and dedication that he brings to his practice inspires me.
Recent reading: The After Party by Anton DiSclafani.
Don’t ask her to: Do anything scary — no horror movies, haunted houses or roller coasters. I hate to be frightened.
