A Dutch-based company that makes coatings and adhesives is closing its Charlotte production facility as part of a restructuring and laying off 58 employees.
IGM Resins told the North Carolina Division of Workforce Solutions that additional employees will lose their jobs during the rest of the year and in January 2024. Its facility is in the Griers Fork area of Charlotte.
The jobs being cut include 13 chemical operators, five quality control technicians, four production supervisors and the plant manager. The workers are not represented by a union.
IGM Resins was founded in 1999 as a chemicals trading company. Its other production facilities are in South America, Europe and Asia.
It makes inks and coatings for 3D printing, food packaging, electronics, optical coatings, and adhesives.
The company is owned by private equity firm Astorg Capital Partners.
