A 211-acre Caldwell County equestrian estate in Morganton just went on the market with an asking price of $5.9 million.
The listing by Julie Breedlove of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty’s Charlotte office is reportedly the most expensive offering in the town’s history.
The property for sale has an address of 4800 Pax Hill Road, Morganton, although GIS records show it in Caldwell County, not Burke County.
While the property sits on the Johns River and includes a 32-stall barn, it comes with a backstory. The current owners of the “Double C” are Bob and Joyce Cassata.
The names may not ring a bell, but Bob Cassata is the creator of the arcade game Whac-A-Mole. Cassata’s Florida-based company, Bob’s Space Racers, came up with Whac-A-Mole in the late 1970s, and the idea stuck.
“While there is only one other equestrian property on the market in the state with 200+ acres, it pales in comparison to the grandeur and elegance of Double C Acres. This exceptional acreage is a piece of North Carolina’s beloved heritage, meticulously designed and crafted to cater to the most discerning equestrian’s desires with unparalleled amenities, beauty and limitless opportunity,” says Breedlove.
The estate features the largest show and breeding barn in the state, with an 32 stalls. There’s only one other property in the state on the market with at least 200 acres, according to Breedlove.
