A buyer from Chicago paid $6,752,000 for a 422-acre vacant lot in Henderson County earlier this month.
The sale represents the most expensive residential land transaction in the county’s history, according to Premier Sotheby’s International Realty, the company representing the buyer.
The property at 9999 N. Bearwallow Road, Fletcher, offers “a rare opportunity to build a home that not only captures the breathtaking views, but becomes part of the landscape itself,” according to a release from Naples, Florida-based Premier Sotheby’s.
However, Premier Sotheby’s D’Ann Ford, the acting agent based in Asheville, says the buyer plans a commercial project for the property. She says she signed a confidentiality agreement that prohibits her from discussing the potential plans. County records list the buyer as Woodlands Collection Property Holdings, which has a Chicago address.
The property last sold in 2009 for about $2.1 million, according to county records. The owner at the time of Jan. 8 sale was Bearwallow Investments, based in Coral Gables, Florida.
Ford says the rural property is about a 15-minute drive from the Asheville Regional Airport in Buncombe County.
