The Brooks Pierce law firm said Eric Fletcher has returned as a partner in its Raleigh office after working as former Gov. Roy Cooper’s general counsel for three years.
Fletcher worked at the firm from 2018-21. He has a bachelor’s degree from UNC Chapel Hill and a law degree from Harvard Law School. He also clerked for an appellate court judge and worked at a large Boston law firm before heading south.
Before going to law school, he worked for former Gov. Mike Easley and State Treasurer Richard Moore.
Beyond business and litigation, Fletcher also represents clients in campaign and election matters and regulatory matters.
“The litigation, regulation, and government relations teams at the firm are as good as it gets, and I’m excited to jump back in and contribute to help meet our clients’ needs across the board,” Fletcher said in a release.
Brooks Pierce has more than 100 lawyers at offices in Greensboro, Raleigh and Wilmington.
Last week, Cooper said he was taking a teaching post at Harvard University’s School of Public Health, while he mulls his political future.
