Haya Ajjan, a professor and administrator at Elon University since 2010, was named the next dean of the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business, effective June 1. Her selection follows a national search.
She will lead a business program ranked among the nation’s best by Poets & Quants, an online publication that covers higher education. She is associate dean and a professor of management information systems for the Love School.
Ajjan will succeed longtime Dean Raghu Tadepalli. During his tenure, enrollment in majors in the Love School of Business increased by 60%, as did the number of faculty.
“Dr. Ajjan is committed to keeping Elon University at the leading edge of business education to prepare students for rewarding careers in any industry they are called to serve,” Elon Provost Rebecca Kohn says. “Her vision and understanding of the importance of developing partnerships across campus and beyond will benefit the Love School of Business, and the greater Elon University community, for years to come.”
Ajjan teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in data analytics and information systems. She has helped develop a master’s program in business analytics and launched the Center for Organizational Analytics to promote teaching, outreach and research in analytics. She is also the Sheldon and Christine Gordon Professor in Entrepreneurship, helping spark an entrepreneurial spirit at Elon.
Ajjan earned bachelor’s, MBA and Ph.D. degrees from UNC Charlotte. Her doctoral degree is in information technology.
The Love School has nearly 2,000 students and 70 full-time faculty. Poets & Quants ranked the undergraduate program 40th among U.S. business schools.
