Daimler Truck Financial Services bringing 276 high-paying jobs to Charlotte

Daimler Truck Financial Services, which provides financing, leasing and insurance options for Daimler Truck North America’s commercial vehicles, will invest $7.8 million to locate its headquarters in Charlotte, a move that’s expected to create 276 jobs.

Salaries for the new positions will average $133,940, exceeding the Mecklenburg County average of $86,830, according to a release from the state.

Daimler Trucks produces Freightliner trucks, Western Star trucks and Thomas Built Buses. For more than 50 years, Daimler Truck Financial Services has offered financial services to its customers, including owner-operators, fleet owners and government bodies. The new Charlotte headquarters will consolidate offices from Michigan and Texas into 60,000-square-feet for its administration, human resources and financial operations.

“We’re thrilled to establish our new headquarters in the Ballantyne area — this move marks a pivotal step in aligning our team closer to DTNA and advancing our strategy for long-term services growth,” said Kevin Bangston, president and CEO of Daimler Truck Financial Services.

Bangston was CEO of High Point-based Thomas Built Buses from June 2021 to September 2024, when he assumed his current role. He started his career with Daimler Truck North America in 2001.

The state awarded Daimler Truck Financial Services a Job Development Investment Grant of $4.1 million, spread over 12 years. The state money will be paid only if the company hits investment and job growth targets.

Daimler was also considering a site in York County, South Carolina, before choosing the Charlotte location. Affiliated companies, including Daimler Trucks North America, Thomas Built Buses and SelecTrucks of America, have a combined five sites in North Carolina. Those sites employ almost 7,000 workers in the state, according to the United Auto Workers union.
