Business North Carolina wins big at Alliance of Area Business Publishers conference

On June 23, The Alliance of Area Business Publishers presented 115 Editorial Excellence awards to newspaper and magazine business periodicals at its annual summer conference in Washington, DC.

With 484 entries from 37 publications in the U.S., Canada and Australia, the competitive field was both impressive and diverse.

Business North Carolina brought home a total of six awards this year. Senior Contributing Editor Ed Martin won a gold for Best Body of Work, continuing his decades-old domination of this category. Contributor Pam Kelley’s story about Durham financial services guru Martin Eakes won the gold for Best Personality Profile, (Chief Disruption Office).

The magazine also received a silver for Best Overall Design; a silver for Best E-mail Newsletter, Daily Digest; a silver for Best Explanatory Journalism, (After the Flood); and a silver for Best Local Coverage of a National Business/ Economic Story, (Beer Bust).
