Bojangles’ shares gain 12% in week, Cempra plummets

These were the best performing Carolinas-based stocks included in the Capital Investment Cos./Nottingham index of public companies for the week that ended Nov. 4.

Bojangles BOJA  11.7%Biscuit maker’s profits topped estimates. Shares closed at $16.70; company went public at about $25 in May 2015.
INC Research Holdings INCR  9.5% – Clinical research organization’s earnings topped estimates.
ChannelAdvisor ECOM  8.2% – E-commerce company lost 10 cents a share, less than estimates of 12 cents. Shares trade for about $12, down from $48 in 2014.

Weakest performers:
Cempra CEMP  (-59.2%) –  Trading halted on Nov. 4 before FDA advisory panel later that day approved use of anti-pneumonia antibiotic. FDA fears it may cause liver damage.
Benefitsfocus BNFT  (-22.3%) – Charleston, S.C.-based benefits software company said it lost $8.6 million in third quarter.
BioDelivery Sciences International BDSI  (-18.8%)Volatile shares of pharmaceutical company have declined 68% in last year.
