Bojangles is opening its first restaurants in Los Angeles County through a franchise arrangement with Lorenzo Boucetta and Poulet Brothers.
Charlotte-based Bojangles and Poulet plan to open 30 restaurants over six years, according to a release Monday. It’s part of the company’s effort to expand from its southeast U.S. roots to a national operation.
Bojangles has more than 800 locations in 17 states. The company is owned by private equity groups Jordan Group and Durational Capital, who bought the formerly public company in 2019.
The company described Bouzetta as an investor with a background in hospitality, real estate, e-commerce and technology.
“The opportunity to grow Bojangles in California presented itself at the perfect moment, and I am thrilled to bring this iconic brand to the market for the first time,” he said in the release.
Perhaps an evidence of his LA credentials is that Boucetta once owned one of pop star Michael Jackson’s sequined gloves.
