Attindas adding $25M investment, 25 jobs in Greenville

Raleigh-based Attindas Hygiene Partners will invest $25.2 million and create 25 jobs at its facility in Greenville, state officials said Wednesday.

Attindas manufactures disposable adult incontinence, baby care and clinical products. The Greenville facility currently has 325 jobs.

“With operations in Europe, Attindas could have expanded anywhere, but they chose Pitt County,” said Gov. Roy Cooper. “Attindas knows that eastern North Carolina offers a stellar quality of life, a world-class workforce, and the competitive advantages that make our state the best place for businesses to thrive.”

Besides Raleigh and Greenville, Attindas has operations in St. Louis and the Ohio city of Deleware. It also has employees in Spain, Sweden, Germany and the United Kingdom. It sells its products globally.

As America’s population ages, Attindas says demand for its products is surpassing projectoins. Its is expanding manufacturing its hygiene products in Greenville to boost sales and reduce importation and outsourcing costs.

“We are excited to expand our local manufacturing beyond adult incontinence with our first production line dedicated to toddlers and youths,” says Russ Bennett, plant manager at the Attindas Greenville facility.

Attindas operates on a 77-acre campus in Greenville it purchased for $28.2 million in 2013.

The average annual wage of $56,746 for the new positions exceeds the Pitt County average of $50,937.

Pitt County will give Attindas a reduction on its property taxes, limited to $500,000 total spread out over five years. The city of Greenville kicked in a $50,000 job creation grant. In June, the state’s Rural Infrastructure Authority approved a $250,000 grant to Pitt County to support the renovation of a 666,000-square-foot building occupied by Attindas for this project.

Also, a performance-based grant of $75,000 from the One North Carolina Fund was awarded to Attends Healthcare Products, a wholly owned subsidiary of Attindas Hygiene Partners.

It’s the second consecutive day Pitt County has announced positive economic news. On Tuesday, Greenville-based UNX-Christeyns, a cleaning chemicals and products manufacturer, announced it would add 21 new jobs in Pitt County and invest $10.5 million to expand and consolidate its operations.

UNX-Christeyns has operated in the county for more than 65 years.
