An Asheville-based healthcare company that served 1 million customers last year has rebranded.
Aeroflow Healthcare will now be known as Aeroflow Health, says Ryan Bullock, its chief strategy officer.
The change will help emphasize the role the company plays in helping patients navigate the healthcare system and create a more cohesive name, says Bullock. Many customers have known the home medical equipment company by the devices it provided – such as Aeroflow Breastpumps, Aeroflow Diabetes or Aeroflow Urology – says Bullock.
“People didn’t view us as one company,” he says. “They viewed us as those individual segments.”
Aeroflow Healthcare launched in 2001. Over the past decade or so, it has put more focus on more lines of durable medical devices as well as the resupply side, says Bullock. While it has added devices it has seen tremendous growth, topping $500 million in annual revenue last year, Bullock says.
It has made Inc. magazine’s ranking of fastest-growing top 5,000 companies for five consecutive years and eight of the last nine. In 2023, it had 143% three-year growth, according to Inc.
The company now has more than 800 employees across 35 states, with about 500 of those in Asheville, says Bullock. It serves customers nationwide and also has offices in Charlotte, Hickory and Raleigh. He says when he started with the company in 2009 it employed about 50.
One secret to its success has been customer service, he says. “Not only are we providing a product, but it is also the service component afterward that we provide,” says Bullock. Aeroflow Health helps patients navigate the complexities of insurance coverage, provides educational resources and consultations.
“We want to continue to focus on removing the barriers and headaches related to healthcare,” Bullock says.
The company set out about five years ago to “march to a million” annual customers, and hit that mark a year early, says Bullock. It has partnerships with more than 1,000 different insurance plans. He says he believes Aeroflow Health is on the right track.
“We think we can continue to provide excellent service through that curated shopping experience that we’re implementing with the business units we have now,” he says.
