What do you like best about your job? Two things, really. One is my team. They are truly exceptional and wonderful to work alongside. Two is continuing our work toward company improvement and enhancement in culture and engagement. We as an organization are working hard to develop a consistent behavior inside and outside of the organization. We seek that moment of brand transcendence when internal and external opinions are aligned.
What inspires you? Active and passionate leadership. People and companies that talk the talk and walk the walk. I find they are rare, so when I discover them, it is inspiring.
Who or what should we be paying attention to? Generational shifts from the consumer perspective. We need to constantly think about how we can deliver high-quality health care in the most cost-effective was possible. If we see this as a company mission, then our work in the community —how we hire and retain talent and how we build a brand — can all use that as a guidepost. The consumer of today is obviously different from previous generations, but they also experience the most rapid change. Staying contemporary will be paramount.
What was your biggest challenge this week? Working through year-end needs while also having an eye toward 2020. Getting and keeping my teams motivated to drive toward both. So far so good.
Eastern or western barbecue? Eastern all the way. Give me all the vinegar and pepper.
