Vita
32; born in Montgomery, Ala.; bachelor’s from Georgetown University and law degree from UNC Chapel Hill; married with two children and a Lab named Sellers.
Why she chose to specialize in her fields
I (thankfully) fell into construction and business litigation and ran with it. The first thing I noticed about both areas was the type of client I was encountering: hard-working, salt-of-the-earth individuals and companies. I stayed for the clients.
What she’d be if not a lawyer
An actress — assuming a complete suspension of reality and the elimination of all obstacles to get there.
Best advice received
Life isn’t meant to just be happy; it’s meant to be meaningful.
Passions
Being with my family and navigating motherhood and career; reading; and acting — when I have the time to do it.

When she was 16…
Favorite book
East of Eden by John Steinbeck. It’s still my favorite book. Every time I read it, different parts stand out to me.
TV show
Friends. That was before the age of binge-watching. My family and I used to anxiously await new episodes on Thursday nights at 7 p.m.
Music
I was really into John Mayer … and The Grateful Dead, thanks to my dad. Apparently, they’re touring together now…
Hobbies
Chatting on AIM (AOL Instant Messenger), pretending to be really into and knowledgeable about music (see above), and reading.
