Why she chose to specialize in this field I have always loved math and was a math and education major at UNC. After teaching high-school math for a year, I decided to go back to school to be a tax lawyer. The tax classes I enjoyed the most were the estate and gift tax classes. I also love working with people to help them solve problems. An estate planning practice combines both the math/tax aspects with the collaborative approach to problem solving.

What she’d be if not a lawyer I would probably go back to teaching high school. I loved being a teacher. There is just something about being able to explain something to a person in a way that they “get it” that is profoundly rewarding.

Favorite place Yucatan peninsula in Mexico. The pyramids — and there are many of them throughout the Yucatan — are amazing. Ek Balam and Uxmal are two of my favorite sites.
