Guilty Pleasure The Walking Dead.
Vita 44; born in Lexington, Va.; bachelor’s from University of Mary Washington and law degree from Pennsylvania State University; married with two children and a ridiculous poof dog named Ellie.
What he’d be if not a lawyer I’m really lucky. I love my job and, given the opportunity, I probably wouldn’t change it. In another life, I suppose I might have been an author or maybe an actor. Then again, lawyers are already both of those things, so…
Best advice received If you want to succeed in life, be honest, hardworking and easy to get along with.
Recent reading I am currently reading The Hobbit to my boys. It was my favorite book as a child. I know the day is coming when they will no longer want Daddy to read them bedtime stories, so I am savoring every minute of it.
Favorite TV show I am totally obsessed with The Walking Dead. Those unfamiliar with the show might be tempted to conclude it is simply a gratuitous gore-fest. The show is actually about the deconstruction of societal norms in the wake of a Malthusian catastrophe. It follows a collapse of the rule of law, the struggle for survival, the rise of natural law, the satisfaction of basic societal needs, and the inevitable re-emergence of the rule of law as a result of mankind’s innate desire for structure and order. That, AND we get to see a ton of zombies get brained along the way!
Passions I study Aikido, which is a Japanese martial art based on non-confrontation and the redirection of force. The goal is to be able to disable or disarm an attacker without inflicting permanent injury. Aikido helps keep me healthy, humble and centered.
Don’t ask him to Do anything at 9:00 on Sunday night – I’ve got a standing appointment to watch Rick Grimes take out bad guys and zombies.
