Michael Hickerson will be general manger for one of McKibbon Hospitality‘s newest downtown Asheville hotels. The AC Hotel — the first of its kind in North Carolina — is scheduled to open later this year. In 2018, McKibbon plans to open its third downtown Asheville property in the former BB&T building, the region’s tallest building.
“We are very excited to welcome Michael … to our team and look forward to the contributions [he] will make at both of our downtown Asheville hotels,” Randy Hassen, president of McKibbon Hospitality, said in a statement.
Hickerson has more than 20 years of experience in hospitality. He has worked for McKibbon since 2001, holding general manager positions at properties in Sarasota, Fla., and Little Rock, Ark. In his role as general manager for the 132-room AC Hotel Asheville Downtown, Hickerson will help recruit, interview and train the hotel’s team, manage day-to-day hotel operations and assist with sales and marketing efforts.
McKibbon, which has dual headquarters in Tampa, Fla., and Gainesville, Ga., builds, renovates and manages properties across the country for Marriott, Hilton, Starwood and other hospitality brands.
