5 questions for Rodney Blevins

P. Rodney Blevins is president and chief executive officer of the Southeast Energy Group.
He oversees Dominion Energy’s regulated businesses serving nearly 1.7 million electric and gas utility accounts in North Carolina and South Carolina and approximately 400,000 competitive and regulated gas supply accounts primarily in Georgia.

Blevins joined Dominion in June 1987 as an associate engineer and held several positions across the electric distribution business, including responsibility for the system storm center, where he was involved in every major restoration event from 1999 to 2013. He was named vice president–Distribution Operations in 2006, responsible for the operation of the company’s electric distribution assets. He was appointed senior vice president and chief information officer in January 2014 and assumed his current role in January 2019.

What do you like best about your job?  The energy industry is changing, and being in a leadership position and part of it is exciting.

What inspires you?  The employees that are the face and voice of our company because they interact with our customers every day and get what we do at a level that cannot be underestimated.

Who should we be paying attention to? Not a who, a what. Be paying attention to electric vehicles. There are a lot more options coming and you may find yourself wanting one. 

What was your biggest challenge this week?  Being in the right place and ready with opportunities in New York, Washington D.C., Columbia, S.C., and Richmond Va.

Favorite N.C. vacation spot?  Any one of the following will do: Ocean Isle Beach, the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center, Charlotte Motor Speedway and the U.S. National Whitewater Center.
